Welcome to the Brunswick Fire Company Inc.

The Brunswick Fire Company No. 1, Inc. is one of five fire departments serving the Town of Brunswick.  We currently respond to over 500 calls per year, ranking us the 3rd busiest of Rensselaer County's 43 fire departments.  The Town of Brunswick is located in upstate NY, Rensselaer County and borders the City Of Troy, a major part of the Capital District area comprising of the cities of Albany, Troy, and Schenectady.  Our fire protection district comprises a majority of Brunswick's residential and commercial properties.  We are located on Hoosick Road also known as NY Route 7, a heavily traveled main thorofare that connects the Capital District and vacationers from as far New Jersey to Vermont and it's popular skiing destinations during the winter months.  NY Route 7 is historically noted for attracting thousands of travelers in the early fall season for great views of fall foliage.

FAST (Firefighter assist search team), also know as RIT (rapid intervention team) is just one component of the fire ground. FAST team from Mountain View station came on over to BFC#1 this Monday night to show us the ropes and equipment us with skills that we can use to help prep a fellow firefighter should a mayday be called. FAST teams specialize in accountability (in and out of a structure), reading fire conditions, increased situation awareness, team communication, quick access, packaging, and extraction of firefighters. We wrapped up the night by completing a combined drill where FAST team members deployed to complete a second floor rescue and extraction. Dinner was provided to both companies by T. Buchanan, B. Members of the apparatus committee recently returned from a trip to Ohio for our final truck inspection. Members of the committee spent a full day going over the Spec sheets and reviewing the apparatus.

Engine 4-2 is a 2023 Sutphen Rescue Pumper and will be first out for traffic accidents and 3rd out for structural fires. We expect delivery in mid October and in service date in early November. Vander Molen Fire Apparatus Sales & Service will be adding the finishing touches and tool mounting upon its arrival.
