Fire crews arrived finding the fire out and the appliance already removed by maintenance staff of the apartment complex. It was found to be an electrical problem. Upon further investigation there was found to be an excessive lint build up in the dryer vent exhaust system. This is a good reminder for EVERYONE! Please check your dryer’s exhaust for excessive lint build up, which can easily lead to a fire! Thanks to Center Brunswick FD, Mountain View FD, Speigletown FD, and Mohawk ambulance for their assistance.

Brunswick No. 1 hosted Vandermolen Fire Apparatus for an Air Bag and Rescue Tool Demonstration. Currently the fire departments air bags are not compatible with our inflation system, using an SCBA bottle and they are nearing their mandatory end of life and will have to be replaced. The new air bags, made by Genesis Rescue systems will be compatible with our inflation system (SCBA) bottles and have maximum lifting capabilities of 20 tons. During the demonstration, fire company members had a chance to use some of Genesis Rescue Systems battery operated hydraulic rescue tools. The current tools the fire company operates work off a gas powered power plant and are connected with hoses to operate the tools. Special thanks to all the Brunswick No. 1 members who participated, Phil Vandermolen and Randy Sheer and Kneer’s Auto for donating 2 cars for us to use.
